Increased marketing drive!

The upcoming months will see an increase in the marketing of Sabdamala through various media services in the Nepalese Community. An article has been submitted to the Nepalese Times Australia, penned by Neelam Pradhananga for the upcoming October edition. We are also working with various radio media providers to build awareness of Sabdamala in the Nepalese Community. This has been a direct result of your concerns as parents on our enrolment and engagement with the community.

Sabdamala Review 2011 & AGM to be held on the 18th of December 2011

It is time again to take stock of what Sabdamala has been through in 2011 and where we are heading in 2012! All parents are requested to join the SMC and SAS on this day to provide input and have your say counted. All current SMC / SAS and parents of children currently enrolled in Sabdamala at the time of the AGM are able to nominate themselves or be nominated for a position on the SMC. A notice of the meeting, agenda and details of the committee will be circulated at least 1 month prior to this date. The AGM this year is also the time to dissolve the current SMC and appoint a new SMC to guide Sabdamala through 2012 – 2014.

At our last SMC meeting we recently took stock of our current committee members and their thoughts on being involved with Sabdamala in 2012 and onwards. While there was a most positive feeling and desire to continue, various members indicated that personal circumstances might influence their involvement.

Rajan is in the process of completing his PhD and applying for various employment opportunities which may take him overseas;
Neelam is looking forward to starting work after the completion of her PhD and is interested in being part of Sabdamala’s advisory committee, but due to a lack of time will not be able to commit to an executive position in 2012;
Bindya is currently due to expect her 2^nd child in early January and while she is motivated in continuing with her work with Sabdamala, family circumstances may not allow her to devote as much time and effort as present;
Samindra, Bina and Jaya are very hopeful of continuing their association with Sabdamala going forward.

Thus we need active parents to be part of the SMC. Please inform us of your intentions to be part of this dynamic team.

Sabdamala Deusi/Bhailo Program to be held on the 22nd of October

Back by popular demand and with great support from the Granville Nepalese Community Club, Sabdamala will again be organising a Deusi / Bhailo program!

Date: Saturday 22^nd October 2011

Venue: Granville and surrounds

Time: 4pm meet up for 5pm start until late

Laxmi puja falls on Wednesday this year, so to get our children into the festive spirit this event will be held on the Saturday prior. Parents are requested to join their children and dress in appropriate attire. We will be in touch closer to the date with the proposed schedule.

Term 4 fees due by 30 October 2011

Multiple child enrolment fee reduction is available. Every subsequent child is eligible for a 25% reduction in the term fees.

Consideration of cases of financial hardship

At certain times, families may face some financial hardship. The SMC are able to consider, on a case by case basis, a further reduction / waiver in fees. Attendance of the child must be at a minimum of 70% in the term prior and any arrangement is for a mutually agreed period of time. Please speak to any SMC member to discuss your issues. A written request will be required and will be reviewed by the SMC. All discussions and requests will be kept confidential.

Free Reduction Policy to be implemented from 2012

With effect from 2012, the SMC have decided to apply a reduced fee policy to the fees of children who maintain a minimum attendance of 70% in the previous year from the time that they enrolled. If your child has attend at least 70% in 2011 from the term that they commenced enrolment then the fee will be $90 per term in 2012, and $80 in the following year and so on. Families with multiple enrollments will still be eligible for this $10 reduction. We hope that this will show our commitment and appreciation to the parents and children who support Sabdamala for the long run! Sabdamala truly is a long term investment for our community!

Establishment Grant Awarded!

The SMC is pleased to announce that Sabdamala has been successfully awarded an Establishment Grant from the Ministry of Education for the Community Language Schools program! An allocation of $2500 has been granted for 2011. The amount is based on various submissions required by the Ministry of Education, with one of the key requirement being that funding is directly linked to the attendance rate of the children enrolled at the school. Funding requires a minimum attendance rate of 70% in the terms prior to application. Regular attendance is, therefore, important not only for the development of your child but also for the continued funding of the school.

Enrolment Open for 2011

Sabdamala is pleased to announce the opening of enrolment for the year 2011. Sabdamala will operate at two venues from this year – at the Campsie Public School and Granville Public School. The enrollment forms are due by the 29^th of January 2011. You will be notified of the confirmation of enrolment by 1^st of February 2011. School starts on Sunday, the 6th of February, 2011.
