Besides learning Nepali, one of Sabdamala’s key working areas is cultural preservation. Sabdamala acknowledges that language teaching and learning does not exist in a vacuum. An understanding of the dynamic notion of culture based on a changing conception of time and space is embedded at Sabdamala to ensure students can identify with Nepalese culture and incorporate those values that are important to them as individuals. Respect for elders, kindness and warm hospitality and a strong work ethic are key examples of some of the Nepalese values that we aim to instill in our students. We have noticed the difference in our students, when they stop to say Namaste!
Back by popular demand and with great support from the Granville Nepalese Community Club, Sabdamala will again be organising a Deusi / Bhailo program! Date: Saturday 22nd October 2011 Venue: Granville and surrounds Time: 4pm meet up for 5pm start until late Laxmi puja falls on Wednesday this year, so to get our children into the festive spirit this event will be held on the Saturday prior. Parents are requested to join their children and dress in appropriate attire. We will be in touch closer to the date with the proposed schedule.
Sabdamala Deusi/Bhailo Program to be held on the 22nd of October
